Unusually for Grey Nomad Air, we spent last weekend in Warrnambool. (Normally we avoid weekends) . Travelled down on a Friday, real IFR most of the way, but you could have comfortably got through VFR at 2500 feet. For us the trip is less than an hour.

The Airport has plenty of parking on cables and the new terminal is open and access is easy. Fuel is available but you will need a BP Carnet Card or get hit for a surcharge. We hired a car, off airport, from coastal car rentals at $44/day with $2000 excess and headed off to explore and catch up with friends. Uber are operating in the area.

The Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is a must , and you need to be there by 11:30 to tag onto the daily guided walking tour of the facility. Returning at night for the sound and light show. That took up most of our Saturday

The magnificent peacock from the Loch Ard shipwreck

On Sunday we headed out to see the Tower Hill extinct Volcano, and the shipwreck coast. There are masses of other Tourists,( the reason we don’t usually do weekends) so many sites are packed out.

London Bridge

Tower Hill

Back to Essendon on the Monday

We could make this into a club over night flyaway. It is well in the range of the C150 ‘s . and there is a range of accommodation and good places for breakfast!

    Nice writeup.
Can you just swipe your credit card to pay at the pump?

Only BP Carnet as far as I know. (Sign says 10c / liter surcharge to use credit card. I think you have to call somebody. ) Bitter experience , nearly all BP Sites will rip you off if you don’t have a BP card.
