Please be aware that an oil rig (Ocean Onyx) is currently positioned in close proximity to the end of RWY 35 (bearing 160 degrees at 2.8nm from the ARP) – hard to miss!!

The rig is lit and is at a height of 281ft AMSL – NOTAM C39/20 refers. From the information we have received, it could be there for up to 12 months.

The rig is was assesed by Canberra today and it does not impede the Obstacle Limitation Surface/Approach path splay.

It does however have an impact on the 35 Rnav approach, especially the Circling Minima.

Our Base Aviation Safety Officer is working on a final solution and will keep us up to date on the situation.
